The first part, "Sam's special heart", tells the story of the main character Sam in a way that is suitable for children, who have a heart condition, and how Sam is pulled out of her everyday life. Sam becomes ill and will need a donor heart. To bridge the waiting time, she is supported by an EXCOR® pump.  

In the second part, Sam explains how the EXCOR® Active works and shares her experiences with us - from implantation of the system to transplantation of a donor heart.  

These books are intended to support the parents of our patients. It is very important to us to support our young patients and their parents as much as possible and to offer help. The books help the children to better understand their situation.
